A movie that is entertaining, interesting and clearly exciting needs to be right on hand. Even if you were to watch Kung Fu Hustle umpteen times you’d still want to have more of it because it is that hilarious. Why not get the Blu-ray version of Kung Fu Hustle so you can view it every time you feel down in the dumps. The movie will definitely lift your spirits even if you are not a Kung fu fan.
Writer director Stephen Chow has done a great job with this movie and it is as striking a work as ‘Shaolin Soccer’ if not more. Therefore Kung Fu Hustle is every movie watchers dream come true, every performers dream script and every martial artists dream action choreography with Yuen Woo Ping. With such an amazing combination of director, actors and choreographer you can only get a work of genius. The movie is brimming with adventure, fun, humor, crime and the best and true to form fighting sequences that leave nothing to the imagination. If you love wild capers and action and more wild capers and more action then go for it and get the capers and action home. Buy the Kung Fu hustle Blu- ray edition and never feel bored again.
Pre-revolution China was ruled by mobsters and the one such gang in the movie is known as ‘Axe Gang’. The Axe Gang is a free dancing and axe wielding mob that roam the streets. Seeing how well these gangsters do the hero Sing (Stephen Chow) wants to become a gangster too. He begins by trying to extort money from people living in Pig Sty Alley and here he gets the surprise of his life when the people turn out to be fighters! Kung Fu, excitement, drama, flying objects are now woven skillfully into the fighting scenes.
Chow displays superb martial arts skills as he has to fight invisible swords and musical instruments. He will also have to outmaneuver a tailor, a cook and a strange Beast played by Leung Siu Lung, who is himself a well known Kung Fu fighter. This balding ‘beast’ may look plum but looks can be deceptive and this is what the hero and you will both discover. Outrageous characters like the landlord (Yuen Wah) and his chain smoking wife (Yuen Oiu) add a lot of fun and interest to the movie and Kung Fu manual seller adds to the suspense. The best is that the humor surrounding these characters is interwoven so skillfully into the fights that it does not detract from serious Kung fu. Some scenes particularly the concluding scene will remind you of ‘Matrix Revolution’ but it figures a notch higher in showcasing Kung fu skills.
Kung Fu Hustle [Blu-ray] looks natural and enhancements are barely noticeable. It comes through as a clean copy and the picture looks very sharp in this format. So don’t think twice, just get this Blu-ray disc and laugh all the way. A repeat won’t bore you either!
