The Mecca of Skateboarding

The Wall Street Journal posted an interesting argument this morning, claiming that Portland is the crown jewel of skateboarding cities. First reaction by me? WTF!?

Despite the fact that 90% of the Skateboarding industry is located in Southern California, the Wall Street Journal claims that Portland is the city of skateboarding glory.

Not True.

Why do I say that?

Because skateboarding was invented in Southern California. It has grown from there to be a national sport that rivals many other fringe sports, and to call it fringe is wrong...I'm sorry. Furthermore, 95% of skateboarding media is head quartered in San Francisco!

Whatever.

The Wall Street Journal might have a point, but I don't think they're correct. Check out The article here...lame.

7 Year Old Nascar Driver

Recently a 7 Year old in Utah didn't want to go to church so bad that he jacked a car and went for it. What's most impressive is that he led police on a nice low to mid speed chase, without as much as a major incident.

Then he got out of the car and ran for it!

This is not Cops folks, it's Suburban Utah. The 7 year is a natural, according to videos. I saw it, wow, Impressive for a youngster.

Police in Utah say a 7-year-old boy led officers on a car chase in an effort to avoid going to church.

Dispatchers received reports of a child driving recklessly on Sunday morning. Weber County Sheriff's Capt. Klint Anderson says one witness said the boy drove through a stop sign.

Anderson says two deputies caught up with the boy and tried unsuccessfully to stop the Dodge Intrepid in an area about 45 miles north of Salt Lake City. The car reached 40 mph before the boy stopped in a driveway and ran inside a home.

You Got Aids

This story was so odd I had to comment and post it. Apparently a robber was so upset with only getting $3 from his victim that he stabbed them with a needle and yelled "YOU GOT AIDS!" before running away with his cash.

COME ON!

I don't carry any money so I guess that could've been me...then again...I don't walk, I skateboard in the streets.

A syringe-wielding robber, dissatisfied with the small amount of cash that his female victim handed over when he threatened her early Tuesday morning at the corner of Chestnut and Franklin streets, stabbed her twice in the hand and told her that he had AIDS.

Police continue to search for the suspect who made off with $3.

New Meaning to I'm On A Boat

A few months ago, I was reading and hearing a lot about middle class Americans in the North East worried about their kids. They were worried because straight A students were getting addicted to drugs, and who did they blame?

Mexicans.

They said Mexicans were in their cities, not taking their jobs, but selling drugs to their kids.

Straight A students mind you, having trouble saying NO to drugs. I'm from Mexico, this bugged me.

Well today, I can't help but feel vindicated. Today I read the headlines and they say:

3 Teens Caught With Half-Ton of Pot on a Boat

Three US teenagers returned from Mexico from what they claimed was a fishing trip with quite a catch: more than half a ton of marijuana stuffed beneath the deck of their boat. The three—two males ages 18 and 19 and a 19-year-old female—were arrested when they docked their 22-foot boat in San Diego, the Union-Tribune reports. A drug-sniffing dog got wind of the cargo, worth an estimated $636,000.

But wait...maybe this means that Fox and CNN will say that we need to guard our borders because Mexican immigrants will come in and try to steal our jobs, and be lazy and a strain to society.

WELL, YOU KNOW WHAT? How about you take your teens and teach them that 1,000 POUNDS OF MARIJUANA IS NOT SOMETHING TO GO TO MEXICO AND BRING BACK TO AMERICA!

Ok, so I might be over reacting, however, I just wanted to say that these kids obviously saw the song "I'm On a Boat" and just read too much into it...what says you?

Canary Fight Club Done

The first rule of Canary Fight Club is, You don't talk about canary fight club.

That's what the rules were, but did anyone listen? Maybe not, as today 19 men were busted in a Canary fight club. The same day that the NFL has reinstated Michael Vick after he was caught breeding and fighting dogs for sport.

Now, I come from a country that has dog fights, donkey shows, fight clubs, drug wars, bull fighting, and so much more, so a canary fight club doesn't shock me...but it might shock you.

Police busted 19 men suspected of operating a canary fight ring in Connecticut, reports WFSB TV. Some 150 canaries and saffron finches were confiscated in Shelton. “There were 100 canaries fighting, and they were betting on them 'til they were dead. It’s absolutely shocking,” said a neighbor. Canaries are increasingly being used in illegal fights instead of roosters, said a police official.

They’ll fight to the death and they don’t make the noise that typical roosters make and they don’t smell,” he said. “They fall under the radar because we wouldn’t think it suspicious if people have a lot of canaries.” - src Newser.com

Before you cast stones, let me tell you guys that I'm a near vegan...so It's not like I'm glorifying anything. I just find it odd that our culture breeds such disregard for animals...so sad.

Superman Red Son Motion Comic Trailer

At a Comic-Con panel today, Warner Bros. announced three more additions to their Motion Comics line, which previously saw "Watchmen" being adapted in numerous chapters. The projects on the docket include Mark Millar's "Superman: Red Son" (an alternate timeline tale where Superman landed in Communist Russia rather than Smallville, Kansas), "Batgirl: Year One" and "Batman: Black and White Collection 2."

Mormon Mexicans Fight Drug War

This is truly an odd story. I am seriously at wits end here. I'm not sure what is worse, Mormons converting Mexicans or Mexicans (Mormon converts) joining volunteer police squads and getting targeted by Drug Cartels!

What the heck?

The Mormons were dragged into the drug fight on May 2, when 16-year-old Eric LeBaron and a younger brother were hauling a load of fence posts in their truck to their father's ranch in the Sierra Madre. According to the family's account, five armed men seized Eric and told his brother to run home and tell his father to answer the telephone. When the kidnappers called, they told Joel LeBaron that if he ever wanted to see Eric again, he must pay them $1 million.

I'm not a Mormon, but to convert dark skinned people, as I understand it is an odd one. I know that the Book of Mormon has had a lot of changes, but come on...it has racist roots why convert Mexicans? Furthermore, Mexicans volunteering for the police force? What's wrong with the world today?

I'm Mexican, so this story hits home a little too hard.

Cult Leader Lets Lady Rot In Bathroom

Yep.

The headline I read was insane. The story of a cult leader that truly believed that the body of an elderly woman would rise from the dead, in a miraculous feat of power. It didn't happen, and he left her in a bathroom for weeks.

Now he's going to pay the price for this, he's gotta take 2 years to think about it he's going to prison now.

Prosecutors said Bushey kept the body hidden so he could collect Middlesworth’s Social Security checks and annuities. Bushey’s attorney, Thomas Steinman, argued that Bushey thought God would bring Middlesworth back to life.

“A miracle like that is part of the Christian faith,” Steinman said. “He truly believed she would come back from the dead.”

Bushey appeared at the hearing in a black cassock with a crucifix around his neck. He told Juneau County Circuit Court Judge John Roemer Jr. that he should have known God would raise Middlesworth from the dead without his involvement.

Listen up, true believers! Stan Lee has announced a team-up with Walt Disney Studios today for a new "digital motion comic" debuting at Comic-Con (and online) this week.

"Time Jumper" will feature the voice of Lee himself, as well as "Species" star Natasha Henstridge, and will tell the tale of a reluctant, time-traveling hero pressed into service by a secret agency. The first 8-10 minute episode of the 10-part series will be released on iTunes this Friday, July 24, but Lee himself will host a screening of the episode and series trailer during Comic-Con.
