You Can't Pass Out Bibles

This is an interesting not to me. Gay and Lesbian communities always talk about tolerance and open mindedness, until someone comes with an opinion contrary to their own. A local news story popped up where people were getting arrested because they were passing out bibles...which isn't against the law. But no one came to defend them...at least not in the media.

Minneapolis Police arrested three people from Hayward, Wis. for trespassing. An amateur photographer named Aaron Bogle gave WCCO-TV video of a father, mother and son being arrested.

For 11 years, Brian and Doris Johnson have passed out free Bibles at the festival.

But that seems better than a Vancouver man who attacked people with a hammer at a gay pride festival. So you get two sides of a coin:

The Moon Is Gay Let's Blow It Up

When I was a kid we called everything gay. It was quite the insult. Now calling something gay has hit the news, and it's funny to me...not to anyone else probably.

A petition is circulating right now that calls for Nasa to blow up the moon...why? Because it's gay...no joke.

You can run across some strange things on the internet. Like this "petition to NASA" , which demands that we blow up the moon because, among other perceived problems, it's gay.

I think we should send some morons into space to land on the moon and plant bombs to blow it up. The moon is gay.

How's the petition doing? More than 1,000 signatures so far.

Groups argue religious vs. children's rights

It's interesting to me that parents want to follow their faith so much that they won't recognize that God has placed certain people in our lives to help with the healing process.

Now, I'm a fan of miracle healing, I've just never really seen it happen. I'm not saying that it doesn't happen, but I'm not convinced that it happens as much as some people would make you believe that it does.

Recently two cases came across the news, and if you blinked you missed them, talking about deaths of children because of Parents believing that the miracle healing and their faith in God would come through.

It didn't, and the kids died.

So now, the government has to step in and try to take away parents rights. It's interesting, here are two proposed bills that will try to help shift the belief systems in our country that allow kids to die due to what I believe is religious ignorance.

According to drafts of the proposed bills:

• Taylor's measure would create a provision to allow parents to present an affirmative defense in faith healing cases in which they've been criminally charged. It includes a litany of factors deemed relevant in determining whether their actions were reasonable, including whether the parent should have known the condition was life-threatening, the risks and side effects of medical treatment and the family's prior experiences with spiritual healing.

• Berceau's bill would, by omitting the exemption, allow child welfare workers to consider faith healing along with other factors in determining whether abuse or neglect has occurred or is likely to. It opens the door for a court to require medical treatment for a Christian Science child, though not an adult.

Today the Ark of the Covenant was supposed to be shown in all its Glory! It wasn't. In fact the leader of the church decided to say NO ARK FOR YOU!

What a jerk eh?

The leader of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church today backed off on a much-anticipated announcement about the Ark of the Covenant -- the ancient container holding the Ten Commandment -- which he claims to have seen.

French Fries Cause Swine Flu

In an interesting story today,, Russian Scientists have linked Swine Flu virus to none other than french fries! That's right, Russian Scientists claim there is a pure link between genetically modified potatoes sold to fast food joints and swine flu. So start being scared!

Scientists from Russia’s Ministry of Health are warning in a secret report to Prime Minister Putin that they have discovered a ‘critical link’ between the H1N1 influenza (Swine Flu) virus and genetically modified amylopectin potatoes that are consumed in massive quantities nearly exclusively by Westerners and sold in fast food restaurants as French Fries. src - Prison Planet

I'm not advocating getting scared, but this is an interesting news bit. What if it's true? Time to change your diet, right?

How Cults Rewire The Brain

This video is a pretty cool look into how cults rewire the brain. Recently I've been reading about FLDS and soon will get to work on the updated book of "Kingdom of the Cults". I like reading about this, and this video is not half bad. The youtube video information is as follows:

At 17, Diane Benscoter joined The Unification Church -- the religious cult whose members are commonly known as Moonies. After five long years, her distressed family arranged to have her deprogrammed. Benscoter then left The Unification Church, and was so affected by her experience that she became a deprogrammer herself. She devoted her time to extracting others from cults, until she was arrested for kidnapping. The shock of her arrest caused her to abandon her efforts for almost 20 years.

Now, after decades of research and study, Diane has begun to speak about her experiences. She recently completed a memoir describing her years as a member of The Unification Church and as a deprogrammer.

Furthermore, she has embarked on a new project to define extremist viral memetic infections. She believes that defining extremism as a memetic infection, from a cognitive neurological perspective, might allow us to develop better memes that would inoculate against the memes of extremist thought. These inoculating memes could prevent the spread of extremist viral memetic infections and their inherent dangers.



Not half bad. Cults are amidst us daily, and many fall for their lies, don't be one of them. Ask questions, even if you're firm in what you believe, asking questions is never wrong and should never be punished.

I'm a Christian, but this is not something that I necessarily believe...but then again, strange things have been known to happen life.

Physics discussion ends in skateboard attack

Forget bum fights, here is a story that is stranger than fiction or coercion. Two men were arguing over physics, and it ended in a skateboard fight! That's right, something can only be rivaled by professional wrestling, two homeless men were arguing some very heady things and well, it caused enough of a turmoil that one nearly killed the other over it. I wonder if this is what caused Cain and Abel to fight?

A homeless man is on trial in San Mateo County on charges that he smacked a fellow transient in the face with a skateboard as the victim was engaged in a conversation about quantum physics, authorities said Wednesday.

Farrah Fawcett Dead of Cancer

This is just in, Farrah Fawcett is dead. The cause of death, her battle with Cancer that lasted for almost 3 years. This is sad for many, I personally don't care too much, I'm too young to have Fawcett as someone that was in my life...in terms of media.

Farrah Fawcett, an actress, television star and pop-culture phenomenon whose good looks and signature leonine hairstyle influenced a generation of women and, beginning with a celebrated pinup poster, bewitched a generation of men, died on Thursday in Santa Monica, California, according to Paul Bloch, her spokesman. She was 62 and had been battling cancer since late 2006.

Ark of the Covenant To Be Unveiled

Remember the Ark of the Convenant? No, not the version that was in the Indiana Jones movies, the real one. Apparently, the Ethiopian Orthodox church has it and they are going to unveil it to the world.

The Ark of the Covenant is described in the bible: Exodus 25:10-22 (King James Version)

And they shall make an ark of shittim wood: two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof.And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, within and without shalt thou overlay it, and shalt make upon it a crown of gold round about.And thou shalt cast four rings of gold for it, and put them in the four corners thereof; and two rings shall be in the one side of it, and two rings in the other side of it.And thou shalt make staves of shittim wood, and overlay them with gold.And thou shalt put the staves into the rings by the sides of the ark, that the ark may be borne with them.The staves shall be in the rings of the ark: they shall not be taken from it.And thou shalt put into the ark the testimony which I shall give thee.And thou shalt make a mercy seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof.And thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat.And make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the other end: even of the mercy seat shall ye make the cherubims on the two ends thereof.And the cherubims shall stretch forth their wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces shall look one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubims be.And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee.And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.

Will it truly be unveiled? Many people are looking to the Pope & The Ethiopian Orthodox Church in order for this thing to come to fruition. I have my doubts, but we'll see how it all goes down, right?

Secret Identity The Fetish Art of Superman Interview

The Daily Cross Hatcher interviewed comic book art historian Craig Yoe about his most recent book, Secret Identity, which is about the rare and nearly forgotten fetish art books drawn by Superman co-creator Joe Shuster.

Given the breadth and diversity of Craig Yoe’s career, from My Little Pony employee to creative director of the Muppets to self-made comics historian, it might be easier to define him by those seemingly few things he hasn’t done in the entertainment industry. Or better yet, we’ll simply focus on those aspects of Yoe’s career that are particularly important to us, at the moment, beginning with the 2005 publication of Modern Arf.

The first in the Fantagraphic series—which now includes Art Museum and Arf Forum—the anthology helped established Yoe a first-class documenter of sequential art’s secret history, a position echoed in the near simultaneous publication of Boody, the Fantagraphics-published love letter largely forgotten master, Boody Rogers and Abrams’ Secret Identity.

We sat down with Yoe at the recent MoCCA Festival in midtown Manhattan for a conversation that largely revolved around the latter, a book devoted to the long lost SM drawings of Superman artist, Joe Shuster, which Yoe happened to stumble upon at a rare art sale.

Were the Shuster pictures fairly well-known in certain circles before the book was published?

No, they were totally unknown. I discovered one of the booklets at a rare antique book sale, and what made it so rare was that they probably only printed about a thousand copies of these. The mayor of New York assigned 80 detectives who descended on the Times Square bookstores who were selling these under the counter. They arrested the owners, and the case eventually went to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court, in a sad day for freedom of the press, banned these and ordered the copies destroyed. As a result, these are very, very rare and unknown to students of comic history.
