Understanding Comics: The Invisible Art by Scott McCloud

Understanding Comics

Understanding Comics: The Invisible Art by Scott McCloud is a comic book about comic books. It really does more than just lead the reader through the artform of media and comic drawings. It details why comic books are composed and read the way they are, all by making a comic book. This book really changed the way I viewed cartoons, drawing and so much more. It's a highly recommended book for any fan of drawing, animation, movies and comic books alike.

Here is a review of Understanding Comics: The Invisible Art by Scott McCloud from amazon.com:

A comic book about comic books. McCloud, in an incredibly accessible style, explains the details of how comics work: how they're composed, read and understood. More than just a book about comics, this gets to the heart of how we deal with visual languages in general. "The potential of comics is limitless and exciting!" writes McCloud. This should be required reading for every school teacher. Pulitzer Prize-winner Art Spiegelman says, "The most intelligent comics I've seen in a long time."

Understanding Comics: The Invisible Art by Scott McCloud is an essential book for anyone interesting in comic books. If you're an artist it will guide you, and if you're looking to get into the professional world of comic books, this might also help you a little.
