Alright, here we go! Now we're talking some color! This cover is so outlandish in it's cover that it's nearly comical. Meaning it's easy to laugh at this cover because how much it blends together. There is no clear hierarchy at all and the Snake in the background is ominous and a painful reminder for me of "Snakes on a Plane" which I personally thought was terrible. Iron Man marches through an interesting tale and the tag line states "Revenge of the Mandarin" oh man...an orange? Hahah. I know, it doesn't stand for that, but that's the first thing I thought of when I read that line. The Invincible Iron Man #9 is just too much color for such a serious story line...well somewhat serious.
I think the artist is trying to convey the center image as part of a frame, like a real picture frame that is ornate and lined with gold. However, it fails to present that to me, as I am not really not buying it. It just seems weird. Iron Man is ripped, a little too ripped. Maybe Iron Man is on the juice! Congress!!
