MNM Graphics Skateboard

How awesome are these graphics? WOOO! I've seen a lot of good skateboard art, but this is just abstract and cool.

This is more of an art form than it is anything else, and it really does showcase a nice array of colors and controlled artistic flow. It's a strange invocation of the arts and melted into the skateboarding fabric that just provides a great overall look and feel. A classic. No corporate entities just art and skateboarding. I love it.

Andrew Reynolds Interview

Andrew Reynolds, one of the better street skaters of our modern age, was recently interviewed and he spoke on skateboarding, ALtamont clothing, and a lot of other cool topics that you may not have seen recently from the skater. The Reynolds interview can be found Here. It's a quick read, but proves that there's a lot of substance behind the Altamont brand and Andrew, as he navigates the scene of street skateboarding and lifestyle.

The Dew Tour Winner Is?

Guess who won the Mountain Dew Tour?

That's right, Ryan Sheckler, even though he whines his way through a television show, he's still can rip.

Man, he sure shut me up, the Dew Tour was cool too, it mixed my favorite drink with some awesome extreme sports.

Why not?

Skateboards Don't Sell That well

I've been monitoring online sales of skateboarding products, and nothing seems to be selling that well. At least not anything that I personally have in stock right now. I have a lot of enjoi decks that were hot at one point, but aren't selling at all right now.

What happened?

I have them up on ebay right now and they are selling at 49.99 with free shipping! That's cheaper than most places you'll find online. I hope that people buy them, or else I'm going to lose money on the original purchases.

I'm dumb.

Segway No More...Skateboard Now

Those of you that are fortunate enough to get a segway, is odd.

Why?

Because it's expensive and stupid.

So what do the makers of the segway do?

They make a skateboard style segway! That's right, a skateboard type model for the segway, and I find it stupid.

I learned to skateboard like a champ, and it's odd to see companies trying to spend a dollar to make a dollar from people that can't skate. I remember the fact that roller blading was HUGE because of one former skateboarder that couldn't hack it so he went on to extreme rollerblade!

Well this is going to make a lot of posers come out of the woodworks and reconnect with their skate roots.

Grr!

Mr X Supreme

Not since "Hook ups" have I been excited to see a skateboard with anime on it. Seriously, these new decks are fusing art and skateboarding in a way that I've been writing about for a while now. The Mr. X Supreme mash ups, have me drooling.

I love art and skateboarding, and this is a major reason to stick around the neighborhood. I am constantly hit with awesome skateboards like this, and this is another example of how the art form is taking over just the sport in many crossover levels. I am definitely going to try and get myself a couple of these.

9 Year Old Pro Skater

This is hilarious.

Pushing your kid to be the best is one thing, but pushing them into the life of professional skateboarding is a little much. If you're a 17 year old like a certain MTV star then that's different, but a 9 year old? A 9 year old shouldn't be a professional skateboarder.

I don't think they should.

That's just my opinion on the matter.

However, there are those that don't think that's the proper opinion and are actually living out what I find to be nothing more than complexities of a world filled with endorsements and other high quality, high money offers. A 9 year old pro skater, is the same as a bearded lady, or a freak show...they are young and will put butts in the seats..which makes someone rich at the expense of a childhood...or does it?

Maybe I'm just reaching too far here.

Rip.Tv

Rip.tv came to me via my other blog, and it's awesome! It's like youtube for sports fans! Not just any sports fans, skateboarding, surfing, and ATV! That's right, some crazy stuff, and some accidents too! Seriously, this is really cool, and I'm glad that I've found it.

Ryan Sheckler's Show Sucks

I was waiting for WWE Raw to come last night, and caught 2 episodes of the Ryan Sheckler show.

Boy was it dumb.

The kid is 17 and a pro skateboarder, and he doesn't know how good he has it. When I was 17, I couldn't get girls either, but I spent my time going to school and working 2 jobs to support my single mom. Oh yeah, my parents are divorced too, and I had to just deal with it, and be a Man and pay the bills that my mom couldn't.

The show had Ryan meeting girls, and then not being able to seal the deal (in any way shape or form) because he is gone so much "skateboarding". Well, that's too bad, but that's the life you choose. If you love something so much, and are gifted enough to do it, do it with all you have and don't worry about the girls, they will come along.

That's what I had to do.

I was good at computers, so I ran with it, and eventually got married.

Skate Art On The Wall

Art and skateboarding is something that I've been covering since my injuries from the sport have sidelined me indefinitely. But I have seen a great example of mixing two medias. Heroin Skateboards

Heroin Skateboards? I don't like the name but they have the coolest graphics. Remember those weird balls from back in the day?

Dc Shoes and Chris "Big Black" have severed ties. Rob & Big is such a huge hit that DC Shoes had set a contract with "Big", who also sponsors Rob Dyrdeck for skateboarding, and Dc Shoes no longer wants to pursue that relationship.

Big will be pursuing his own label DOUBLE B clothing, as he is always seen wearing.

The show is currently filming its third season.

Redman Skateboards

Redman has a limited edition skateboard series out right now. There is a super limited edition quantity of skateboards featuring some killer artwork, and if you're into collecting skateboards as much as riding them, then you have to check this out.

It's definitely cool to see that there's a lot of cool things poppin in and out of the skateboarding industry, and this is just another example of how art and skateboarding sometimes meet head on into a cool scenario of style and function.

If you see any pro, you will notice that they too collect skateboards and place them on the wall.

The 84 Thousand

Is skateboarding worth $84,000? Is a skate video worth $84,000?

Maybe, there recently was a skate video that sold for that price, and the skateboarding was a little unconventional. It involves a legless man!

Oh yeah, a guy with no legs skateboards better on vert than you and I combined!

Well me for sure, because when it comes to vert I'm a bad skater. I blame the fact that I grew up in Los Angeles, where skateboard parks weren't really on the cities agenda and I had to skate and destroy the streets.

But alas, times are different and things are good. But 84 k seems a bit much.
